In Kenya, half of fruit and vegetables never reaches the market and are wasted, as they
cannot meet the high cosmetic standards and regulation. This is compounded further by food
losses at farm level due to poor rural infrastructure and limited value addition.
Food that is left to rot releases methane, a greenhouse gas that is 28 times more potent than CO2.
